ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m McKenna Paulsen, MA, LPC, LMHC, TLHT. I am a licensed counselor in Colorado and Washington and a registered telehealth provider in Florida.

Relationships have always been at the heart of my work. I love Love. From early in my education, I knew I wanted to specialize in helping couples build stronger, healthier, and more fulfilling connections. After earning my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I completed my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. Since then, I have completed thousands of hours of clinical work with couples, with specialized training in relationship and sexual health counseling. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor with advanced training in sexual health counseling, I help couples navigate a wide range of challenges, including communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, intimacy concerns, sexual functioning, and relationship conflict.

In addition to my counseling training, I have education in divorce mediation and birth doula work. These experiences have deepened my understanding of family systems, reproductive experiences, partnership transitions, and the many ways relationships evolve throughout life.

Working with couples is the most meaningful part of my professional life. It is a privilege to support people through some of their most vulnerable and important moments. I have helped couples prepare for marriage, navigate the transition to parenthood, strengthen intimacy, and create relationships that feel more satisfying.

I am particularly interested in the intersection of relational, emotional, mental, and physical health. This passion has led me to pursue both a certification through the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and to recieve training as a Yin Yoga teacher. I often incorporate an understanding of the mind-body connection into my therapeutic approach.

My style is warm, structured, and straightforward. I care deeply about providing thoughtful, evidence-based care and creating a space where clients feel both supported and challenged to grow.

Outside of the therapy office, you can find me working with animals, doing pilates, and competing in fantasy football leagues.
